Why are animation movies never screened in English in Uruguay?

It seems that if you want to watch animation movies in Uruguay you can only see them in Spanish. However, sometimes animation films are released in their origin English version for 1-2 weeks in select cinemas.  If you would like to watch Finding Dory in English then you can from this Friday at Shopping Montevideo and Punta Carretas Shopping only.  You can buy tickets online.  Now if only they could start showing movies during the day and at more kid friendly times instead of the only screening of 9.50pm!

  1. May be they do that because is a spanish speaking country...

  2. What I am emphasising is that adult movies are screened in Spanish and English but animation movies are only screened in Spanish. So it isn't because it is a Spanish speaking country because if that were the reason then none of the other movies would be screened in English!

    1. Think that only very few children in the country can really understand english...and little children still do not know how to read fast enough to understand subs. For adults it is different, we can read faster and many I included do not like dubbing and rather prefer to listen the original audio even if we do not understand much of it. In the end is only a matter of money...there isn't enough (young) public ready to watch american animation movies with the original audio; it is no good business for cinemas. Just that

    2. Yes but don't forget there are adults that like to watch animation movies too. And whether native English speakers or not, there are many that prefer to watch the original version than the dubbed over one. Hence the reason why they are able to screen the original version for two weeks at the beginning :)
