Heritage Weekend is a weekend when specific buildings/museums/sites are open to the public. Most of the buildings would not otherwise be open to the public or during the weekend may include to access to back-of-house areas. The buildings include unique examples of architecture through the ages and gives people the chance to discover why some Uruguayans sites deserve the distinction of Unesco rankings.
Heritage Weekend this year is on 1st and 2nd October.

Shakespeare Festival Uruguay:
Monday 29 February is the start of the the 2nd Shakespeare festival in Uruguay! The 2016 edition includes plays for adults and children, some of them involving renowned British Actor George Irving. The Montevideo Players Society is kicking off their 2016 activities with a SUMMER QUIZ!!
To be held on THURSDAY 28 January 9pm at the Neil Fairless Centre.
Tickets - $ 350
Members - $ 250
Get your team of up to 5 organised and book a table through montevideoplayers@
Once they confirm your booking, you go to any Red Pagos branch within the 48 hrs and pay the tickets amount into their "colectivo" N° 44275.
The deposit must be made in the name of the person who booked the table. Otherwise, payment cannot be traced.
PLEASE NOTE! - To allow proper planning/catering they will only accept bookings till Wednesday 27/Jan at midday.
Capacity is limited, so if you drop in on the night, chances are you'll be left out.
If you don't have a team, just let them know and they'll fit you into one.
Doors will open at 8:30 PM sharp and not before and tables will be drawn as each team arrives.

Yes they have finally confirmed! The Rolling Stones are performing a concert in Montevideo on 16 February 2016. You can follow them and get updates via the Facebook page. Mark your calendars :)
When is Expo Prado 2015?
Expo Prado is on again this year from 9-20 September. An event not to be missed, whether for adults or kids - it is a great day out! You can even stay into the evening and have dinner at one of the many awesome restaurants within the expo. Last year we enjoyed wandering around the expo and looking at all the animals as well as sitting and watching some of the horse events in the main arena. I will be heading back this year with my family :)

This year we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the infamous Battle of Gallipoli, and in what has become known as ANZAC Day.
On Friday April 24th at 18:00 at the Navy Museum there will be a ceremonial event with the presence of national and diplomatic authorities.
And on April 25, at dawn, we will hold a simple, traditional ceremony that commemorates this day in Australia and New Zealand.
